Fun fact: while eating lunch, we ordered a smoked meat sandwich that was smeared with house-made 1000 Island dressing. Curious if there was a connection to 1000 Island and this region, we quickly googled it. Sure enough, 1000 Island was created in the area. There's a couple of stories of who brought it to life, but it definitely was invented in the 1000 Island region. Pretty cool, huh? Accidental food history lesson with lunch? We’ll take it.

Before leaving the city, we had one more thing planned.....but first, coffee. We stumbled upon Cafe Orr....a true coffee shop that was both eclectic and unique. We got our coffee and drank it in the car to-go style to give us enough time to find, park, and get ready for the real adventure of the day: Bagel Making Class. Priorities matter, and caffeine was absolutely step one.

On our first full day in Montreal, we began with breakfast at the hotel lounge, which is one of the perks of being a Marriott member. The hotel lounge had a wonderful coffee maker… although it had a bit of a learning curve, it was definitely a bright spot that morning. Once we figured it out, we were properly caffeinated and ready to pretend we had the day fully under control.
