We just spent 2 nights at Deerlick Creek Campground near Holt, Alabama which sits sits along the scenic shores of Holt Lake, northeast of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This was a fun trip withs some great friends. This campground is nestled within a lush, wooded area and offers views of and access to the lake which is ideal for a variety of outdoor recreation activities including boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and relaxing by the water. However, the gate to get to the "beach" was closed and locked. I'm not sure the reasoning or rationale during our stay, so I was only able to admire the lake from a distance. Because the weather was both cool and rainy while we were there, we really had no need to use the beach other than to explore.

There were a few marked hiking trails but we decided to stick with the paved paths because of the rain and thunderstorms. These paths were nice and well maintained. There is also a large patio/pavilion on site as well as a playground and basketball courts.
The camp hosts seemed friendly and were accessible. We stayed in campsite #3, which had both sewer and electric hook-ups and the bathhouse was only a short stroll away. I did feel the bathhouse was a bit small for the 52 total campsites that are available.
While our site wasn't the biggest, it was adequate. It included a fire ring, bbq grill, picnic table, and a small tall table. The ground was fine gravel. Our site was level and was easy to get our RV (26'7") and our daughter's car in without issue. The sites were well spaced, with many offering a good bit of privacy.
We did find that our camper developed an ant problem midway into our trip. This is the first ant problem we've had and I'm sure it won't be the last. Perhaps they were looking for higher ground after the crazy thunderstorms and rain....no matter the reason, these things were a nuisance.
One thing to note, this campground is a good 20 minutes from the closest grocery store. So, be sure to stock up on your necessities before arriving. We realized that we forgot to bring a mixing bowl, so part of our group headed out to pick one up. Round trip, plus shopping time took them about an hour to make the trek to Publix and back.
Overall, it was a fun trip, despite the rain, and we look forward to many more.
